Science Behind Smiling – The Power of a Smile

Mathematically it’s a curve, lip to lip end, but if we go through the humanity it is called The Smile 🙂 .

It is not just a facial expression, it is the power that makes the entire world to live peacefully and gives imminence pleasure to us.

Smiling is good

A smile costs nothing, but it gives much; enriches those who receive without making poorer those who gives. Really it takes a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.

A smile has multiple positive effects on our well-being. Ron Gutman in his ted talk points to British researchers who found that one smile can generate the same level of brain stimulation as up to 2,000 bars of chocolate and that smiling is as stimulating as receiving up to 16,000 pounds sterling in cash.

In this entire world none is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it, and none is so poor, but that he can be made rich by it. A smile creates happiness in home, poster goodwill in business and is the countersign of friendship.

No matter what kind of dress you wear, you are not well dressed unless you wear a smile.

It brings rest to the weary cheer to the discoursed sunshine to the sad, and it is nature’s best antidote for trouble. Yes it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed or stolen for it is something that is of no value to anyone, until it is given away.

A smile can change someone’s day, give them hope about humanity and it might just be what they need to get over a negative experience.

Importance of Smiling

When you see someone you don’t know (or even you know) there is nothing much you gave exchange with each other than a Beautiful and Insightful smile. It’s like a bond created between two souls which is far far away from all this materialistic world.

A smile will not only make the moment comfortable for stranger but also provide you an opportunity to interact and express yourself freely. Moreover, I shouldn’t explain why smile is actually necessary for everyone to live healthier but it’s also a root of enjoying life to fullest.

Smile as loud as you can, as much as you can and as usual as you can. It’s one of purest form of bonding between two persons which leaves both in a state of joy forever. Some people are too tired to give you a smile, give them one of yours as none needs a smile as much as he who has no more to give.

So next time when you see someone, greet them with a Beautiful Smile, and I’m sure the smile you get in return will change your mood for sure. 🙂

Below is a short guided meditation to help you along:

Step 1. Sit upright in a comfortable chair.
Step 2. Close your eyes and take 3 deep breathes.
Step 3. Smile and continue to be conscious of your breathing.
Step 4. Become mindful of the physiological and emotional effect that your smile is having on you.
Step 5. Be grateful for one blessing in your life.
Step 6. Open your eyes and find someone to share your smile with.

Hope this come up with  smiles on your face.
